Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

I'm currently not in-network with insurance or EAP programs but can offer services as an out-of-network provider. You would be responsible for payment at each session, and I can provide a super-bill for potential reimbursement from your insurance. Use the Nirvana reimbursement calculator to estimate amounts.

Some helpful questions to ask insurance companies include:

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • Do I have out-of-network insurance benefits?

  • How many sessions will my insurance cover per year?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required to use these benefits?

What are the benefits of paying for therapy out-of-pocket (i.e., not using insurance)?

Self-pay clients benefit from enhanced privacy, as no diagnostic information is shared with insurance companies. However, note that seeking reimbursement for out-of-network benefits may require a diagnosis. Paying out-of-pocket also provides the flexibility to choose any provider, not limited to those covered by insurance. Additionally, some insurance plans may not cover issues related to sex and relationships.

How is therapy offered?

Calm in Chaos Therapy offers virtual and in-person therapy sessions. Clients may email info@calminchaostherapy.com to inquire about available in-person sessions (5335 W 48th Ave, Ste. 500, Denver, CO 80212). Virtual sessions use the HIPAA-compliant Simple Practice video platform, with specific instructions sent via email. Clients can also opt for hybrid sessions, offering a flexible combination of virtual and in-person therapy.

How often should I/we expect to have therapy?

To maximize the benefits of individual or relational therapy, consider scheduling weekly sessions for the initial 4-6 weeks. This consistent engagement sets a foundation for progress. After 4-6 sessions, collaborate with your therapist to explore the possibility of transitioning to bi-weekly sessions based on your personalized treatment plan and the progress you've made. As you achieve your desired goals, there may come a point where monthly maintenance sessions suffice, providing ongoing support tailored to your evolving needs.

How long will it take to see results?

Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual and relationship, predicting the exact duration of therapy for meaningful change is challenging. The frequency of weekly or biweekly sessions, combined with the client's commitment to growth outside of therapy, significantly influences therapeutic outcomes. It's important to acknowledge that delving into sensitive issues might initially intensify symptoms before improvement occurs. While positive outcomes are often observed in 8-12 sessions, the complexity of certain issues may necessitate longer-term therapy for sustained progress and lasting transformation. Your commitment and collaboration play a vital role in achieving the desired results.
